Dagens Nyheter launches first “newspaper” phone in the world.

Sweden’s largest daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, has recently claimed to be the first “newspaper” telephone in the world.
The branded offering is a mobile phone that gives the daily’s subscribers free direct access to its mobile website and all the breaking news. Mobiletech’s Dextella platform is the power behind Dagen’s Nyheter’s mobile edition enabling the newspaper to publish content to the right device in the right format.
“We want our readers to be able to follow the news even when they’re in places where they cannot lay their hands on a paper or access the internet on a computer”, says Thorbjoern Larsson, Dagens Nyheter editor-in-chief, in interview with AFP.
Users can surf the newspaper’s mobile site by simply clicking on a specially dedicated “DN” button.
DN reports that it has proved very popular, with Larsson stating: “After we announced the launch we received so many calls that our switchboard broke down. There’s a lot of interest out there.”
